3 charging setups. 1 is right for your home.
Most homeowners either guess, or get upsold to a setup they’ll never use. Here’s the honest version: what each option actually does, what it suits, and which one we’d quote for a home like yours.
1. Weatherproof power point — the slow lane
Adds roughly 12 km of range per hour. It’s the cheapest way to charge at home, and for some people it’s all they need.
Right for you if: you drive under about 20 km a day, or you’re waiting on a car and want something safe and compliant in the meantime.
Skip it if: you commute. Plugging in at 6pm and getting ~150 km of range by morning gets old fast — most EV owners outgrow the power point within months.
2. 7 kW wall charger — right for most homes
Adds roughly 46 km of range per hour on a dedicated circuit. Plug in when you get home, wake up to a full battery — and charge on off-peak overnight rates.
Right for you if: you’re like the majority of Melbourne EV owners — a daily commute, one EV, single-phase power (which most homes have).

3. Three-phase 22 kW — the fast lane few homes need
Adds up to ~100 km of range per hour — near-instant top-ups. It’s impressive, and it’s also the setup people get upsold to most often.
Right for you if: your home already has three-phase power and you run two EVs, do serious daily kilometres, or want to future-proof a new build.
Skip it if: your car caps its own AC charging (many do, at 7–11 kW) — paying for 22 kW your car can’t accept is exactly the kind of overspend we exist to stop. We’ll tell you straight.
How we pick the right one for you
Three things decide it: your car (what it can actually accept), your daily kilometres (how much range you really need back each night) and your switchboard (what your home can support without expensive upgrades). Send us a photo of your switchboard and we can usually confirm a fixed price on the first call.
Whatever we quote, it’s one fixed price — cable run, protection devices, mounting, testing and the Certificate of Electrical Safety included. If your job needs more (long cable runs, switchboard work), it goes into the same single quote up front. No hidden costs, no second tradie.
